Marlborough Community Development Corporation, ARRT, Inc. and the City of Marlborough launch Rail Improvement Program
Area residents, organizations and businesses are invited to sponsor a bench or bike rack.
Marlborough, MA, May 30, 2007 – This summer, MCDC, the City of Marlborough, and ARRT Inc. want to improve Marlborough’s recreation areas, including the newly completed Assabet River Rail Trail (ARRT). Individual residents, organizations, or businesses are asked and encouraged to make a tax deductible donation to the Marlborough Community Development Corporation, a community based non-profit organization. The donation will go towards the purchase, shipping, and installation of durable site amenities such as a bench or bike rack. Included in the cost is a personalized plaque. What better way is there to create a memorial or draw attention to your business, family, or organization than to help beautify the community? BUY A BENCH!!
The site amenities will be placed on or near the newly constructed Assabet River Rail Trail that begins at Lincoln Street and Highland Street and follows the old railroad bed to Hudson at the 290 Connector where it continues through Hudson and will eventually link Stow, Maynard and Acton.
If there is a specific place an entity would like a bench to be located; the program will do its best to accommodate the request. If no preference is indicated, it will be placed where it is most needed.
4 Benches will be placed on Crowley Drive, 4 Benches will be placed between Hudson St. and Sasseville Way, and 4 Benches at the trailhead on Highland and Lincoln Street. Bike racks will be placed at various locations on the trail, throughout downtown Marlborough and at other area destination points.
Other contributions are welcome. Funds will be expended on items and tasks that benefit the ARRT, such as organizing cleanups, reproduction of maps, upkeep of kiosks and other amenities.
